Honda's New Heritage Parts Program Keeps Your First-Gen Acura NSX on the Road

The Acura NSX earned its reputation the hard way, by proving a supercar didn't have to be temperamental to be exotic. More than three decades after it first arrived on American roads, plenty of first-generation NSX owners are still driving, restoring, and cherishing theirs. Keeping those cars running has gotten harder every year, though, as original factory parts have quietly disappeared from dealer shelves. Acura just announced a real solution.

A New Program, Timed to a Milestone Year

In this 40th anniversary year of the Acura brand, Acura launched the Honda Heritage Parts program in the United States, offering reproduction parts for the first-generation NSX exclusively through Acura dealerships nationwide, with ordering set to begin this summer. It's a fitting way to mark four decades in America, given that the NSX remains arguably Acura's most iconic and technically significant vehicle.

"In this 40th anniversary year of the Acura brand, the launch of Honda Heritage Parts is especially meaningful, giving Acura enthusiasts the support they need to continue enjoying their first-generation Acura NSX," said Steven Bailey, vice president of Honda and Acura Parts, Service and Technical Division. "At its core, the new Honda Heritage Parts program honors our shared passion for these iconic vehicles and helps ensure they can be enjoyed by future generations."

Two Categories of Parts

The program covers parts in two distinct categories. Genuine Honda Reproduction Parts are manufactured using the same materials and production methods originally used to build the NSX, meaning restorations stay as authentic to the factory original as possible. For components that can no longer be reproduced exactly as they once were, Honda Compatible Parts step in: newly engineered replacements built with updated materials and modern manufacturing techniques, designed to deliver the same or better results as the originals.

This two-tier approach solves a real problem for long-term owners. As certain parts became scarce over the decades, NSX owners increasingly had to rely on aftermarket alternatives of varying quality, or track down parts through third-party sellers, often overseas. Now there's a genuine factory-backed option again.

Why This Matters for NSX Owners

If you own, or have been considering, a first-generation NSX, this program directly addresses one of the biggest practical hurdles of owning a 30-plus-year-old exotic: keeping it authentically maintained. Whether you need powertrain components, interior trim, exterior parts, or electrical system pieces, having a legitimate factory channel means you're not gambling on fit, quality, or authenticity the way you might with an unverified aftermarket source.

It also means resale and collector value stand to benefit. A well-documented restoration using genuine reproduction parts tends to hold significantly more value in the collector market than one patched together with mismatched aftermarket substitutes.

What Comes Next

Acura has confirmed it's currently evaluating which other Honda and Acura performance models might eventually join this initiative. While nothing's been officially announced beyond the first-generation NSX, the program's existence alone is good news for enthusiasts hoping models like the S2000 or original Integra Type R might see similar support down the road.

Specific parts, pricing, and full ordering details are expected closer to the summer launch. For now, NSX owners can take comfort in knowing genuine support is officially on the way.
