Acura Type-S is Returning!
Posted on January 19, 2018 It was the way you knew an Acura was the sport model. You’d find it in the Acura TL lineup, a trim level for the Acura RSX, and various other models over the years. And now, coming soon, you’ll once again see the Acura Type-S package in new models across the Acura lineup.
Acura Type-S is Coming Back
Acura announced that all future core models will have the Acura Type-S variant. It’s being developed alongside a sportier, more performance-oriented turbocharged V6 engine. In all models with the Acura Type-S designation, you’ll have the assurance of an exhilarating ride in one of the top-selling premium brands on the market. Toshiaki Mikoshiba, president & CEO of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., said, “We have made a major commitment to Acura to bring each element of Precision Crafted Performance to life through a new generation of products. Acura will pursue a unique powertrain strategy that underscores the brand’s rightful place as the performance division of Honda.”New Tech is Rolling Out
Along with a new high-powered turbo V6, used exclusively in the Acura lineup, additional performance technology is rolling out. The totally redesigned 2019 RDX will be equipped with the newest version of Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system. Not only will the 2019 RDX be targeting the top of the lineup with its daring, sexy looks but it will aim to be the top of its class for performance and handling. A-Spec Upgrades
If the Acura Type-S doesn’t suit your fancy, perhaps the A-Spec package will pique your interest. The announcement from Acura also mentions that all core models will have an available A-Spec package in their lineup.
