The compact car of Acura's lineup, the Acura ILX underwent a slight brow lift this year. It doesn't change the spectacular sedan much, though the end result is a more focused, safety conscious vehicle. The visible enhancements are minor, with the headlights pulled back into a slanted, aggressive look that completely suits the use of its Jewel Eye LED headlamps. The bright white Xenon lights cut deeply into the darkness, and the mean appearance of the Acura's angular grille and front fascia strike fear into competitor's hearts. While 17" wheels are standard on almost all ILX trims, 18" alloy wheels come in the ASpec package. What's really important in the ILX update is the powertrain. The 2.0liter engine that was standard equipment through 2015 has been dropped from the lineup. All ILX trim lines receive the 2.4liter 4cylinder with 201 horsepower. Also standard equipment is the eight speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) that invigorates the driver with the snappiest of shifts under acceleration, while slow speed travels are softened by the torque converter. The ILX takes a rather common 2.4liter engine and makes it incredible. Safety and security are at the core of Acura's lineup with the ILX receiving the same treatment. Some features such as Bluetooth HandsFreeLink and iPhonebased Navigation aren't considered safety equipment in some circles, though allowing a driver to remain focused on the road with nothing but steering wheel in their hands is definitely a plus. AcuraWatch safety suite is also standard equipment, featuring Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist, and blind spot monitoring. All of this contributes to the 2016 Acura ILX receiving the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating yet again. See what the 2016 Acura ILX has to offer you, available at Jay Wolfe Acura of Kansas City.
